Turboid®, TurboFill® & TurboPack® are the patented process technology lying at the heart of the TurboScrubber® / TurboStripper® designs. Highly turbulent mixing and liquid shear is brought about in a liquid column by hollow aerodynamic media. The multiphase shearing forces lead to multiple contacts at the molecular level and provide enhanced interfacial area and mass/heat transfer coefficients. Other fluid bed designs suffer from several problems, including channeling of gas through parts of the bed, poor distribution of the bed and generally unreliable performance. Through years of research & development FTL & Osprey have eliminated these problems and this is backed up by hundreds of successful installation around the globe including numerous installations in Australia.
TURBOFILL®, TURBOID® & TURBOPAK® fluidised bed packings have shown exceptional ability to simultaneously absorb gases and remove fine dust particles across a wide range of industrial applications. The system’s high mass and heat transfer rates offer considerable reductions in scale and cost for gas cleaning plant, for chemical processes, dryers, boilers and incinerators etc. One TURBOSCRUBBER® unit replaces Venturi & packed Tower or Tower & Bag Filter combinations. TURBOPAK® & TURBOID®’s non-clogging nature also permits the use of limestone slurries, trade effluents and biomass as scrubbing media.
Traditional Sphere Shaped Packing Proved to be aerodynamically unstable (Swirl Effect / Sideways Movement). Other Issues Included Channelling Of Gas, Poor Distribution of the Bed & Unreliable Performance . The patented Ellipsoidal & Ovoidal Shapes Overcame These Issues & also is more energy efficient to fluidize the media. The indent adds extra thrust to the Tumbling Motion & the skewed centre-of-gravity of the media causes them to oscillate.
